Part-time, Temporary Position


Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of reptiles and amphibians? This role is located In Longmont at Colorado Reptile Humane Society and will help to ensure the health, well-being, and humane treatment of reptiles and amphibians under our care.

 

Position: Part-time, temporary animal care position (December 2025 through March 2026)


Responsibilities:

·      Provide daily care to various lizards, snakes, turtles, tortoises, and amphibians.

·      Prepare Reptile Salad and thaw frozen food items for feeding to animals.

·      Cage cleaning, feeding, and providing water in an appropriate method depending on animal species.

·      Maintain various insect habitats including cleaning and feeding.

·      Safely handle and move animals. This includes coordination and movement to address contagion concerns.

·      Perform observations of health and behavior of shelter animals and record such observations.

·      Thoroughly clean and sanitize animal habitats and other work areas.

·      Adhere to all safety, training, and handling protocols to ensure shelter environment is safe for animals and humans.

·      Communicate with staff in a timely manner to assist in all duties.

Schedule:

·      Begin position in mid-December

·      4-hour shift, 5 days per week, Monday through Friday. Position ends mid-March.

 

 

 

Compensation:

·      $17.00 - $20.00 per hour, commensurate with market and experience

 

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:

·      Handle and restrain animals of various size, weights, and temperaments. Subject to animals bites and scratches.

·      Work performed in a very warm environment (80F and above).

·      Exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes, dust, animals dander, and feces.

·      Physical efforts require frequent bending, stooping, standing, and walking

 

Qualifications:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

 

·      Ability to work independently while following specific procedures and protocols.

·      Ability to follow timelines for tasks.

·      High level of personal responsibility, attention to detail, and punctuality.

·      Strong communication skills.

 

Required

·      High-school diploma.

Desired

·      Professional experience in animal welfare/working with animals, especially reptiles and amphibians.
