About CoRHS

Our Story

The Colorado Reptile Humane Society was founded in 1998 with a simple mission: to improve the lives of reptiles and amphibians through education, conservation, and sheltering. For over two decades, we've been Colorado's leading organization dedicated exclusively to the welfare of these remarkable creatures.

Our Mission

We are committed to providing exceptional care for reptiles and amphibians, educating the public about proper husbandry and care requirements, and facilitating adoptions that ensure these animals are placed in appropriate, knowledgeable homes. We believe that reptiles and amphibians deserve the same compassion and specialized attention given to traditional companion animals.

What We Do

  • Shelter abandoned, neglected, and surrendered reptiles
  • Provide specialized medical and behavioral care
  • Conduct thorough adoption screenings
  • Offer educational resources and care guides
  • Support conservation efforts for native Colorado species
  • Train sheltering and animal control organizations

Our Commitment to Quality

CoRHS conducts a thorough adoption screening process. We believe that careful matching between animal and caretaker is essential. Our comprehensive adoption applications ensure that each animal finds a home where its specialized needs can be met. We follow up with adopters to provide ongoing support and education.
